About:China Embassy in Thailand

Hi,

I'm a U.S. citizen who is traveling from Laos to Thailand. I'd like a 1 year multiple entry tourist visa for China. I read on the embassy's website that I need a visa notice sheet from an authorized organization in China for this, but this website doesn't say that it's necessary. Is it possible to get this visa without the visa notice sheet? Thank you.

A visa notification sheet is required for F visa application. To apply for a tourist visa, you don't need to have a visa notification sheet.
