My father-in-law is not well and wishes to return to his hometown of Xiamen one last time.  Can anyone give us travel advice about getting from Shenzhen to Xiamen?  I read that there is a bus does anyone know how much it costs or how long the journey takes?Should we book a hotel or just find one when we get there?Many Thanks - whirlpool.com|Laura_beth_ng

It is very easy to get a bus to Xiamen from the bus station located beside the LuoHu entry point from Hong Kong.(10 min. walk - if that).Normally the fare is 180 RMB/seat or 200 RMB if you want a sleeper coach. The journey takes about 8 hours (new super expressway not yet complete)and arrives at SongBai bus station or HuBinNan Lu bus station. There are about 5 or 6 buses /day leaving ShenZhen.
