About:Hainan Travel

I went to Hainan in New Year (1 Jan 09) with my mother & relatives to visit my father & brother. They involved themselves in a Hainan Government's Project "Flower World"(I don't know the exact name)

"Flower World" is a new tourist spot in HAIKOU. It starts in 16 Jan 09. This place near to HAIKOU Airport. People from different provinces in China group in this place, show the best of their plants, flowers, bonsai and different type of buildings & decorations.

We took AirAsia to HAIKOU (RM700/person:thru & for). We stayed in HAIKOU for the first 2 days then we rent a MPV (for 9 persons) with driver cum tour guide & travelled to SANYA for 3 days 2 nights, then back to HAIKOU & stayed for a day.

The weather was cold in HAIKOU during Jan but it was hot in SANYA (similar to Malaysia). Our hotel's rate range from RMB60-130/night in HAIKOU; RMB450-500/night in SANYA. (P/S: The Hotel's rate will change from time to time. You will be able to get some discount if you know someone local.) For sure, SANYA's expenses is higher than HAIKOU as it's a major tourist spot in HAINAN.

I did enjoy the trip. We looked for coffee in SANYA but not easy. We played fire cracker in HAIKOU as it's very CHEAP. We visited "NanHai Guan Yin" (have to prepare your own joystick when you are on the way), Monkey Island with Cable Car, YaLong Bay (nice relaxing place, can think of staying there for few days), BoAo, WuZhiZhou Island, RenYao Show(Thailand show) & etc.

Every places in SANYA costs money, the shuttle bus, the sitting area at the beach, the toilets and etc. I'm fine with the toilets as they have doors.

As a Malaysian, I preferred HAIKOU as the wether is cooler. We are familiar with the scenes in SANYA. We have seen them in Malaysia. I enjoyed the breakfast in HUA QIAO Hotel in HAIKOU city. The traffic in HAIKOU is terrible. We rided on the "du du" to the market, ate sweet potatoes, fruits, corns & ect.

I hope you will enjoy your trip :)

Hi Joe

How much you pay for your MPV with driver cum tour guide? Do you mean that the MPV bring you & your family tour Haikou & Sanya from day 1 of your trip and do you have to pay the accommodation for the driver & tour guide? As I'm going Haikou tomorrow and I find it's a good idea to rent a MPV with driver. When can I find car renting services?

Dear Mr Sajid (India),

I will talk to my brother and may let him contact with you, thank you.

Dear Ms Helen (Malaysia),

The cost of the MPV for max 8-9 persons is around RMB450-500/day; Driver cum tour guide (he is not a professional tour guide) RBM150-200/day.

Please be clear, the rate will change from season to season & we know someone local to do the arrangement for us.

May I know when will you travel to HAIKOU?

Mr.Tan (Malaysia),

Sorry for my late reply, I think when you read this, you have come back from HAINAN. Ya, we have to pay the accommodation for the driver cum tour guide.

Hope you have a great trip in HAINAN. Cheers!

I will collect more information to share with those who interested in travelling to HAINAN. Thank you.

Dear Ms.Helen,

Sorry, I did't keep the brochures but all the places that I mentioned above, you are able to google it. Or send email to me: gmail.com|joetvc.

From your reply, you are going to stay in HAINAN for 6 days 5 nights right. That's just nice.

Day 1: Fly fr M'sia 7am & reach to HAIKOU ard 10.30am
(Full day in HAIKOU and it's city, enjoy the local scenery)

Day 2, 3 & 4 (3 Days 2 nights): Travel to SANYA fr HAIKOU. (There are a lot of tourist spots tht require entrance fees; range fr RMB 50-200. I don't know what's your plan and budget. As the trip to SANYA is really costly. For my trip, Accommodation (2 pax) RMB 450-600/day; Entrance Fees Food ard RMB 1500-2000 & etc. Of course it is because we are going on our own. If follow the local tour agency, it will be cheaper. Maybe you can tell me what is your plan & expectation then I can suggest to you.)

Day 5: You have back to HAIKOU, you can go buy souvenirs in the City and enjoy the local food and coffee.

Day 6: Go to airport after breakfast and fly back to M'sia.

It's better to have a budget, it helps in planning.

Cheers,
Joe
