hi i'm here in japan right now and my boyfriend and i are planning to reunite in hongkong this february because it's our fourth anniversary. he's in the philippines right now and haven't left the country yet. can you tell me if the only thing he need to present is his passport and roundtrip ticket or he needs something else like visa or something?

Just bring your passport and ticket then they will give you a 14 days visa.
