About:Xian Travel

Travelling to Xian from HK in early November this year.
Is the weather getting colder then and should we bring winter clothing ?
Also, can local tour companies be recommended for tour bookings/accomodation etc via the Internet or should we book through our travel agent?

Many thanks
Rod Sayers.

November is between winter and later autumn,so i think you could take some warm clothing an autumn clothes.
in addition you can book those tour bookings through your agent.

Hi, trust me you dont have to book a tour, just remember there are 2 lines around xi'an connecting all the famous senic sites, one is east line with the First Emperor's mausoleum/warriors/hua qing chi/ban po (birthplace of the Chinese nationality), the other one is the west line with Wu Zetian's mausoleum (the first and only female emperor in Chinese history)/ Famen Temple/ several other mausoleums from decending dynasties, each line will spend you 1 whole day visiting, believe me they are totally worthy of the time if you really want to know something about China and our splendid history and culture.

For the above 2 lines, you may take a bus from the xi'an railway station, lots of choices, but dont forget to get up early to catch the first bus there, both are around 7am.

Except that, you may spend the other 1 day climbing Hua Shan Mountain(bus is available in the railway station too), one of the 5 great mountains in China, featuring with cliffes and peaks; and for the last, you will have to spend 2 days visiting the city of xi'an, get to the provincial museum of Shan'xi, the pagodas, the walls, the Museum of Forest of Stone Tablets, bell and drum tower,,and dont forget to leave some time tasting the local snacks in a small lanes nearby the drun tower--Hui Min Street.

That's all, I think if you follow my plan you will not lose any interesting sites in Xi'an and will love the city after the days you spend there.

Finally for souvenirs, i will recommend you to buy some snacks in the Hui Min Street; some copies of the stone tablets in the stone tablets museum; and I bought some beautiful postcards in the warriors site and sent out in their local post office, if you find it interesting, you can try it as well.

ok, that's what i want to say, dont mind if i talk too much, but i really love and miss xi'an, hope will help you in some points..

Mr.Sayers
November is very cool in Xi'an, It's the begining of winter, so you'd better take some thick cloth with you.
