Penalty for staying in Shanghai for over 144 hours

Hello,
I was just wondering what penalty would apply if I stayed for longer than the 144 hour visa-free transit period in SH. Thankyou

If you stayed for longer than the 144 hour visa-free transit period in SH, it may affect your next trip to China. So you need to apply for the visa (residence certificate) in advance to the exit and entry administration department of the local Public Security Bureau.
