Can I fly DFW->PEK->HKG and not get a visa?

The flight is DFW->PEK then stay there a few days, train to Tianjin, stay a few days, train back to Beijing and fly PEK->HKG. Is this allowed as long as I only go to Beijing and Tianjin?

If your stay in Tianjin and Beijing is within 144 hours, then no visa is needed. You can enjoy a 144h visa free transit. If it’s over it, you need to apply for a visa in advance.
