About:Stone Forest

I intend to visit Kunming Stone Forest during the May day festival.

I don't know if I should stay there overnight : is one day enough to see all the three sites (from KM city)? If I come back late (after 18:00) , are there any regular buses coming back to Shiling still? If I stay there overnight, any hotels recommended?

Yes, one day is enough for you to visit there. According to the official website of scenic spot, the last bus heading for Kunming departs at 16:40. If you stay there overnight, Shilin Yinruilin International Hotel could be a nice choice. It is located at no.6, Ruilin Road. The price of a standard room is CNY350-450/per night.

So, I have to hurry up in order to take the last bus from shilin. By the way, is the youth hostel far from the scenic spot ? I guess if I go to the park on the next day again, I have to pay another entrance ticket. Am I right?is a guide necessary to see the place ?or there is information provided ?

Hi,Meg. The Kunming Shilin Zhuoqie Youth Hostel is about 4 kilometers from the scenic area. You can take it into consideration. It’s located at no.576, the first village of the Yi nationality. The price of a single room is about CNY60/night.
If you go out from the scenic area, you need to pay another ticket when you want to visit it again. Generally, you can travel there on your own. However, if you want to know a lot interesting information about the spot, you may hire a local tour guide. The scenic area has the English guides, and it charges CNY80 for one trip.
