Well, you can walk 2-3min to the New Century Plaza East bus stop to take bus no. 712 to Xiaogang metro station within about 20min. Then tranfer to metro line 2 to Haizhu Plaza, which is considered the downtown area. It is within walking distance to Beijing Road Pedestrian Street by the way.
