About:China Train

Hello,

I am an American teacher coming to Yantai University. I arrive in Beijing on July 2, 2009 at 10:30 p.m. I wish to take a train ride to Yantai University. Does the train run 24 hours a day? Where do I catch the train at night from the PEK airport? What is the name of the train system?

Thank You,

hi Rita,
According to the latest train schedule, there is only one Express Train from Beijing to Yantai per day. It departs from Beijing at 16:30 and arrive in Yantai at 6:19 the next morning. As you will arrive in Beijing at 20:30, you'd better stay one night in Beijing and then take the train the next day.

The train is K258, which will depart from Beijing Railway station.

Hope it can help you.

There is only a direct train from Beijing to Yantai. The train No. is K285 which departs from Beijing Railway Station (Beijingzhan) at 16:30 and arrives in Yantai at 06:19. The whole journey takes 14 hours. Since your flight will land in Beijing at 22:30 in the evening, i'm afraid that you will have to stay one night in Beijing and then catch this direct train the next day.

You can not catch a train at night from the PEK airport since the railway station is in the city area of Beijing. It will take you about 1 hour from the airport to the railway station.

Alternatively, there are connection trains from Beijing to Jinan and then Jinan to Yantai, but you still need to stay one night in Beijing. Hope it helps.
