About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Brisbane to Guangzhou to Dubai

Husband and I are travelling to Dubai for a wedding. We have a 24hr 45min layover in China overnight. We would need to exit the airport to stay at Novotel Airport Hotel. We are on an Australian Passport and a New Zealand Passport. I pressume we need the 72 hour visa-free transit? Do we need to apply for this?

If you only stop in Guangzhou, you are in fact eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit. You can apply for a temporary entry permit to get out of the airport for hotel check-in.
