chengdu to emeishan in day trip

Question

Hi,I am from Singapore travelling independently. I want to take a day trip from Chengdu to Emeishan in Sept 2023.Can I do this in in one day? I will take train leaving Chengdu East at 07.18Am & arrive Emeishan at 0845. For return on same day, I would like to take Emeishan train leaving 19:44 pm & arrive Chengdu East 20.53pm. What is the quickest way to see Emeishan including reaching the mountain peaks like Golden Summit.Do I have to book the train trips in advance? Is there discount train fares for foreigners above 65 years old?  Thank you.

The quickest way is to take a sightseeing bus from the entrance of the scenic area to Leidongping Station and then walk about 20 minutes to Jieyin Palace where you can take a cable car to the Golden summit. After sightseeing, return the same way you came. Yes, it is recommended to book train tickets in advance. As I know, there is no discount in train fares for people above 65 years old, no matter Chinese or foreigners.

You can visit Emei in one day but I do not recommend it especially for a 65 yr old. I spent the whole day in Emeishan and the whole day in Leshan. I recommend 2 - 3 days (relax).
