jiangsu nanjing airport layover

Question

Hello, I have a 14 hour layover at this airport from 7PM-9AM later this month; is it safe for two women to travel outside of the airport in these hours? If so, where would you recommend locally to check out. Also, since, its a layover, do we need a visa - we are coming from the US? Finally, if we wanted to stay at a hotel nearby, are there any that you would recommend, and could we book the hotel when we get there, or should we do this in advance? 1. Generally speaking, you don't need to worry about the safety problem. 2. You don't need a visa. But if you want to leave the airport, you need to apply for the Stay Permit when you arriving at the airport.3. You are suggested to find a hotel nearby the Main Railway Station. The surrounding transportation is convenient. 4. You can book the room when you arriving there. But in order to make sure having a room, you are suggested to book it in advance.
