About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Two one way flights or connecting flight?

I would like to travel from London to Sydney via Beijing and stay approximately 48 hours. The cheaper and more convenient option means booking two tickets, 1st flight - London to Beijing with Air China and second flight Beijing to Sydney with Qantas.

Is this allowed or does it have to be connecting flight with same airline?

As long as your trip would be London-Beijing-Sydney, you can get free transit in Beijing. Separate tickets won't affect that. Don't worry.
