Hi I am Australian and travelling from berlin with a 37 hour layover in shanghai.

Can I leave the airport.Do I need to get visa at airport.How long does this take?

David, if you will fly to a third country or region instead of Germany after stopping in Shanghai, you will be able to use the 144 hour free transit. No need to apply for a visa then.
