About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Can I get a 72 hour visa and how do I get it?

I am flying from Hanoi to Shanghai and 3 days later am booked on a flight back to London from Shanghai. Am I eligible for the 72 hour free pass?
I will be staying with a friend, so do I also need to register at the police station?

Fiona, you are eligible for the 72 hour free transit in Shanghai. When you boarding the plane in Hanoi, you need to inform the carrier that you want to use the free transit in Shanghai, after arrival at Shanghai airport, you can go to the transit counter to apply for the free transit.
You need to register at the police station. You can do it by yourself or your friend can register for you.
