About:China Transit Visa

Arrive Shanghai by cruise and depart by plane on the same day.

We are US citizens and take a cruise from Singapore to Shanghai with a few stop along our 17 days cruise. Our final destination is Shanghai Cruise Port , we will disembark the cruise at 5:00AM May 12 and take a transfer to Shanghai Airport to fly to Los Angeles at 8:00PM on the same day May.12. Please let us know if we do or do not need China Visa. Thank you for your help.

Tim, you don’t need PRC entry permit because you are eligible for the 24 hour direct transit. However, you need to apply for a temporary stay permit at the frontier inspection and it’s free.
