About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

China 72hr Transit Visa - do flights into & out of Beijing have to be on same flight booking???

Fellow Travellers...

I am booked on Cathay Pacific (operated by Air China) from Hong Kong direct one-way to Beijing arriving in Beijing on Oct 7 at 9:20pm. I have on a completely separate booking, a flight with Korean Air that departs Beijing one-way for Tokyo on Oct 10 leaving Beijing at 11:50am (& goes via Seoul). Given these scheduled arrival/departure times I will be in Beijing for 62 hours & 30 mins - inside the 72 hour limit....

Do I qualify for a 72 hour free/transit stay in Beijing?? My specific query here relates to the fact that I don't have a flight itinerary booked from Hong Kong - Beijing - Tokyo all on the same booking but instead have two separate one-way flight bookings on each booked at different times & with different airlines. I can't find any specific information that defines exactly what is meant be the term 'onward flight' or 'connecting flight'.

If someone can please tell me whether or not I do qualify for a 72 hour free stay in Beijing I would be most grateful.

Cheers :-)

Hi Alexis, don't worry. You are eligible for the 72-hour free transit even though you hold two separate flight tickets from different airlines.
