If you want to apply for the entry permit at the CVASC office in Johannesburg, you have to hold the original and photocopy of a South African permanent residence permit or other temporary residence permits valid for over 6 months beyond the date of your intended date of arriving in China. Otherwise, you can’t apply from there. Besides, even though you have the qualified residence permit, you have to go to the office in person to submit the application as you are non-South African citizen.
