are there anything to celebrate in haikou during chinese new yr 2015?

I will going to that city next yr Chinese new year 2015.. but I worry during Chinese new yr there will no shops open... are there anything can we do in there during Chinese new yr?? hope to hear your feedback soon ^^

Don't worry! Although during the Spring Festival, many shops will open. Some Chinese people may arrange their special holiday in the city during that time, so the street won't be that quiet! Usually some celebrations or activities are held in some parks like Baishamen Park and  Evergreen Park. I also heard there is fireworks show at local Century Park on New Year Eve.
