About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

72 hour transit

A UK citizen travelling Manchester via Singapore to Shanghai, leaving Shanghai within 72 hours to fly via Singapore to Kota Kinabalu. Would this qualify as flying to a different region, even though the arrival flight and departure flight, for flight connection purposes are, from and to, the same airport, i.e. Singapore. Thanks

I am afraid you have to apply for a Chinese visa for this visit to Shanghai. The itinerary does not apply to this free transit policy.
