About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Catching connecting flight in Guangzhou to Shanghai

We planned to fly direct from Hanoi to Shanghai, staying 48 hours before catching our flight back to London. Now the direct flight has been cancelled, and our only option is going via Guangzhou (1hr 45mins layover before flying to Shanghai). Can we still use the transit visa, or will this count as two stops even if we don't leave the airport and are just changing planes?

No, you can not avail this 72 hour free transit if your flight has a layover in Guangzhou before flying to Shanghai. But you still enjoy free tranist if your total stay (two stopovers) in China is less than 24 hours.
