Visa for transit in chinese airport

I am flying to Sydney, Australia with Air China on 17.22014 from Frankfurt, Germany.
Will change planes in Shanghai (4 hours).
I have Israeli passport and my wife has US passport.

Do we need visas for the transit time?

Thank you.
