US citizens entering from Nepal? Buying Cambodia visa upon arrival

We are US citizens, and are en route from Nepal to Cambodia. We would like to use this 72 hour exemption to take a tour.

Questions:
1. Can we enter as US citizens, but not coming from US (coming from Nepal)?
2. We will have onward tickets to Cambodia, but we are going to buy our Cambodia visas upon entry. Can we do this?

It is ok for you to fly from Nepal to Cambodia via China, but you should better prepare a document showing the eligibility for visa on arrival to Cambodia with US passport. You can also confirm this with the carrier airline.
