72 hour visa for Beijing but change planes in Guangzhou - is this allowed?

Hi - I hold a UK passport and have a flight booked from Bangkok - BJ - Brisbane. I want to take advantage of the 72 hour visa for BJ - HOWEVER, my flight ticket says I have to briefly change planes in Gangzhou on the way to BJ and then again on the way to Brisbane. I'll only be at the airport for an hour or so max and won't go through immigration or anything until I actually land in BJ. Will I still qualify for the 72 hour visa????? Any info would be great.

I am afraid that according to the policy, the 72 hour free visa policy is not available.
But in order to make sure, it is suggested to consult the airline company for asking more detail information.
