Can I only apply for a visa in the city to which my consular district is assigned?

Hi! I am from Trentino-Alto Adige, a consular district assigned to the Consular Office in Rome. Does this mean that if I apply for a visa at the service center I can only do so at the center in Rome? Or can I also go to the service center in Milan, which is a lot closer?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, you have to apply from the CVASC in Rome. As I know, the center provides post service for return delivery of the processed passport (application). You can send your application to someone else/a travel agency in rome if you can not visit the center in person.
