About:China Visa Application in USA

Do I need to apply for a different visa if I will travel from Chicago to Hong Kong?

If I am going to Guangzhou via Hong Kong, do I need to apply for a different visa? Thanks for your help.

It is not necessary. If you hold US passport, you are exempted from visa to HK.
