If my flight is not till December, is there a certain rule where I am only allowed to get my visa on the same day?

Generally speaking, only applicants who urgently need a visa to China can apply for rush service and get the visa on the same day. maybe the visa officer will ask you to provide the flight tickets on the next day or following days to prove you really need visa as soon as possible when you apply for the rush service.
