About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

is there a penalty for NOT obtaining residence permit after 6 months

I have stayed in China on Business visa several times in current year: total days are more than 6 months in China...do I need to apply for residence permit and also obtain alien employment licence? ...

Don't worry, if the stay duration per entry is not more than 6 months, you don't need to apply for residence permit. You enter China for several times, the total stay duration for the several entries is more than 6 months. It is not counted as the situation that you need to apply for residence permit.
