what is the currency used in Macau? Do they honor HongKong dollars?

The currency used there is Macau Patacas (MOP). Hong Kong dollars are accepted in most places in the city too.

At this point in time there is so much HKD in circulation in Macau that you can pretty much use it everywhere other than the Macau Post Office. Museums, restaurants, taxis... Basically everyone takes HKD and most likely will be able to give you HKD change for your purchases.
