About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I, 66 years and wife 60 years, both Indian Citizen holding US B1/B2 Visitor Visa have confirmed reservations on Air China Intl Delhi Los Angeles and Return via Beijing with a layover at Beijing Airport for nearly 12 hrs both ways. My quarry is: Do we need TRANSIT VISA at Beijing Airport. Flight Details are:

Delhi Departure 11DEC 00:10 Air China CA 948. Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3 Arrival: 08:40
Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3 Departure 11DEC: 21:00, Air China CA 983. Los Angeles Arrival 16:30 hrs
LAYOVER at Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3: 12 hours 20 Minutes

Los Angeles Departure 11JAN 00:40 Air China CA 984. Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3 Arrival: 05:30 12JAN
Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3 Departure 12JAN: 18:00, Air China CA 947. Delhi Arrival 22:40 hrs
LAYOVER at Beijing, China Capital Airport, Terminal 3: 12 hours 30 Minutes

If we want to leave the Beijing Capital Airport for a short Beijing Sightseeing. Can we apply for one day stay permit at Beijing Airport. We understand there is office window at the Airport called Beijing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection. Does it mean a Transit Visa for a day at the Beijing Airport itself like One day Visitor Visa on arrival. Any details please

You don't need Transit Visa for stopover in Beijing if you remain at the airport, once you leave the airport, you need a China visa, you'd better apply for a China transit visa in India. If you don't want to apply for China transit visa in India, you can have a try to apply for one day stay permit at Beijing Capital International Airport. If you get it, you can leave the airport, otherwise, just remain at the airport.
