About:Chinese Permanent Residence Permit

I have just received my "Residence Permit for Foreigner" in Shanghai. Been married nearly three years here to Chinese National and this is a family permit. I was previously on a business "F" visa. I am unsure at this stage what I am and are not allowed to do in respect of business in China. I am a freelance business person whom conducts business in many corners of the world, sometimes I do work for foreign companies which involves negotiations here in China. Am I still allowed to do this? I pay tax in Australia which is where my consulting business is based.

In princial, the Residence Permit for Foreigner is issued for you for family visit, you are not allowed to work in China, only alien employees who go to China on a work visa and then apply for a Residence Permit, can work in China.

However, the police will not check it carefully, you can still do business in Mainland China.
